Proper nutrition -
A cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine

The doctrine of Ayurveda believes that proper nutrition is not only important for a good health status, but essential in the place.
But which diet is needed, which foods are recommended and which time of their preparation is usefull again depends not least on the type of constitution of the respective person.
Some guidelines are equal for all people and do not dependent on the particular type. It's always good to eat only when you are really hungry and not to consume any snacks. To take enough time and eat in a quiet environment and with a similar state of mind is equally helpful for everyone. In addition, the main meal should be served at noon and - like all other meals too - at best have all 6 flavors (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, bitter / astringent). If you keep at least a three-hour meal break after meals and drink plenty of water or unsweetened (herbal or fruit) tea throughout the day, you have implemented the most general rules of the ayurvedic nutrition.
But as I said: The particular type of constitution of the concerned person is important. A kapha-pitta type eats better not the same foods in the same preparation, at the same time of day, like a Vata type, for example. In the case that the food is used in the form of a cure in alleviating symptoms and curing diseases, the knowledge of the proper physical, mental and emotional condition of the patient is crucial.
As an example, let me mention that a person with Pitta-type with a strong so-called fire of digestion, preferably should eat lukewarm, warm, medium-heavy meals in the tastes sweet and bitter, while someone of the Kapha-type should decide to use shortly cooked, hot and spicy tasting, bitter and astringent food.
I am looking forward to presenting to you your very own dietary guidelines, based on your individual type of constitution. Whether you want to heal from illness or just want to eat better and more targeted: I'll give you the guidance to you local foods, their preparation and the rules of their consumption. Just give me a call!
